About Eugene J Gabrell, PE

Gene Gabrell served with Honor in the United States Coast Guard. The leadership ability that he gained in the military was invaluable during his 11 year career as an Engineering Manager for Plastics Technologies Company.

Gene returned to school and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in December 1993, at the Georgia Institute of Technology. While at Tech, Gene was on the Dean’s List and was active in the Student Chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Gene joined Lindsay, Pope, Brayfield, Clifford and Associates (LPBC) in 1994 as an Electrical Design Engineer. Gene was promoted to manager of Electrical Engineering in August 2000. His work at LPBC included the design of electrical systems for hotels, libraries, retail, fire stations, and other commercial buildings.

After 20 years of experience at LPBC, Gene left to launch his own company, Eugene J. Gabrell Engineer. Gene is a Registered Professional Engineer in several states and is certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. He was an officer of the IEEE – Industrial Applications Society Atlanta Chapter.

Gene is also an Eagle Scout and served his local community as a scout master for 12 years.

Gene has provided the design of building electrical systems for the Suwanee Branch Library, Gwinnett County Fire Headquarters Complex, Dawson County Library, Athens-Clarke County Fire Stations 3, 4, 8 and 9 and Gwinnett County Fire Stations 5, 8, 12 and 25.

Over the past 20 years, Gene has designed multiple hotels for some of the most well known chains, including:

  • Marriott: Courtyard, Residence Inn, Springhill Suites
  • Hilton: Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites, Hilton Garden Inn
  • Starwood: Aloft
  • IHG: Holiday Inn
  • Hyatt Hotels: Hyatt House, Hyatt Place

In 2012, Gene became the engineer of record for Universal Studios’ Cabana Bay Beach Resort. This design included 1800 guest rooms, two outdoor recreational areas complete with pools and water slides, retail, bowling, dining, offices, and registration areas. This resort opened in 2014.
